Turn the Lights On

“Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven” (Matthew 5:14-16).

I had a moment with The Lord that opened my eyes to what he was doing here. I was working in my living room, as I typically do. With several lamps and lanterns on… as i normally do. When I was praying through the framework God had for me in this ministry, I felt like I heard Him say “turn the lights on.” I looked around in the semi lit up room I was sitting in and said, “Lord, what do you mean? There are so many lamps on in here?”

I quickly noticed the overhead light was off. I never think to turn that light on- actually, It has only been a handful of times I have turned that light on since moving into our new house. The Holy Spirit began to minister to my spirit.

Jesus is the Light. He is the main source of Light we will ever find or need- He is the the OVERHEAD Light if you will. How often is it that we forget to turn the Main source of light on in our life? We try and get it from things that have light, but truly, bear minimum light to let us see just what we need to see. How about in our everyday circumstances? Better yet, in our own Home with our family and Him. Do we turn God’s FULL Light capacity on there? Asking Him to give us clarity in what he is doing, illuminating us to his presence in each and every moment, highlighting what you see to the person beside to you. We have been called to “turn the Lights on,” in our husband’s life, our children’s lives, and in our personal lives. What an honor it is to be chosen for this assignment! God, chose YOU! Yes, You! To be the main extension of his love and truth to those living in your home. To be the one to recognize the importance of the Light of Christ blazing brightly in our homes.

If you have a husband and/ or children, you have been called to marriage and family ministry! There may be days where you have to muster up the energy to choose it, but we have the greatest source of Light to graciously lead us all the way Home. Welcome to the ministry!
